Judge's Report:

"This project was an extension to an 'Arts and Crafts' style house to produce a modern kitchen and family living room and was the winner amongst an exceptionally good shortlist of projects from a very large field of submissions. The detail of the project was almost 100% 'on the button' and many of the little details, which point to a high level of quality and care in the building works, were obvious. The very high degree of customer satisfaction in an exceptional job points to Adsborough Builders definitely being Master Builders.

Internally excellent, well-finished, good plasterwork, kitchen, bench seats, fitted wood burner and oak floor. There is a good natural slated roof with graduated courses. The excellent Indian stone terrace matches the local stone of a newly built wall and all stone was 'won' from the garden. It was the builder who suggested the Indian flagstones to match the wall. The design was for internal steps and the builder proposed external, as it would look better and is less hazardous.

The oak beams were lifted in by crane and deep (10 ft) foundations were required. The roof was of reclaimed slate, the laying of which took three weeks, which was a surprise for the builders!

The rear patio roofed area is a very unusual feature and gives the property an extra dimension.

The project came in on time and price, with any extra works being agreed. The clients reported that Adsborough Builders played a very constructive and positive role, enhancing the project considerably with their ideas and the relationship was excellent, to the extent that they were able to hand over the keys while on holiday. They would have them back tomorrow and missed them on completion of the work. Special efforts were made to keep the site safe at night because of their children and screening was used to keep as much dirt as possible out of the house. There was always a serviceable kitchen at the end of every day, with security barriers.

The clients cannot praise their builder highly enough, as they had an idea of what they wanted but credit the success of the build to Adsborough Builders and cannot believe their luck to have picked them."
